About Seed Sowers

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

How did it start?

Seed Sowers began in Canada back in the 1980s when a farmer was inspired by tumbleweed to engage in widespread distribution of God's Word through this original text of John 3:16.”

From the beginning, this work was about more than simply getting the texts into the homes. Teams of believers were mobilised to take a week of their time camping in an area while covering it with the Gospel.

Slowly, area after area began to be covered until the whole province had been covered with Seed Sower texts. John 3:16 was in every home.

The vision continued to spread across Canada, into USA and Mexico, before making its way across the Atlantic to the UK and Ireland.

What has happened in the UK?

To begin with the Seed Sower text shown above was simply made available to others for their own use, but in 2009 a trust was formed with the intention of pursuing the initial vision more fully.

Since then Seed Sowers trust has organised distribution events in various locations in England and Northern Ireland. At these events, the Lord's people have enjoyed fellowship while sowing over a large area.

Typically we distribute around 20,000 Seed Sower texts over a weekend event, as we work towards placing John 3:16 in every home.

We generally like to run these events in connection with follow-up Gospel meetings, where those initially contacted through the wide-spread distribution of the Seed Sower text can hear more words of life.

What's Next?

Seed Sowers continues to prioritise the large-scale distribution of texts through the events mentioned above, and the encouragement of believers thereby to have a Gospel vision, as our main mode of operating.

However, we realise we will not achieve our goal of John 3:16 In Every Home by this alone, and so we see the need to also encourage individuals and local assemblies to take up this vision themselves and on a more regular basis sow the seed in many local areas across the UK.

To help co-ordinate this aspect of the work, we have developed a Seed Sowers App.

Through this App you will know you are not alone, and will know that what you do, however small, is a part of a advancing a much larger work. Once you have downloaded the app and registered, you will be able to order texts and then subsequently record your distributions.
