‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.’ [John 3:16]
This verse is “the gospel in a nutshell” and through it many have found everlasting life and salvation in Jesus Christ.
This ‘good news’ flows from the truth that God loves me!
God loves me for He has provided a way of salvation when all I deserved was to ‘perish’ under eternal judgment!
God loves me for He has given ‘His only begotten Son’ to die on the cross, facing the judgment instead of me, when His Son was eternally the centre of His delight.
God loves me for He calls me when I am in my sins, when I have nothing to give, and promises me the blessing of ‘everlasting life’ and forgiveness of sins. And all I have to do is ‘believe’ in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31).
God loves me! Surely this should touch my heart?
