Description
The iconic basalt columns of the Giants Causeway are widely recognised among the great wonders of the natural world. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1986, the Giant’s Causeway abounds with folklore and ancient mythology.
Through the centuries sceptics have tried to relegate God to realm of fantasy – but He outlives them all. The evidence of His existence is emblazoned upon Creation for every large-hearted and open-minded person to see – the glory of everything He made bearing eloquent testimony to the greatness of its Maker. King David recognised the majesty of the eternal Creator-God when he said “For who is God save the LORD? Or who is a rock save our God?” (Psalm 18v31)
In a world of cruelty and injustice, it is comforting to know that “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: For all his ways are judgement (just): A God of truth and without iniquity (injustice), Just and right (upright) is he.” (Deuteronomy 32:4) God has “appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness” (Acts 17:31) Every thought, word, action and motive will be scrutinised in the light of God’s unswerving justice. The dead, small and great will stand before God to be judged (Revelation 20:12) – everyone, including the world’s tyrants and hypocrites will meet ultimate justice. None will escape. And neither will you.
We do not need to wait the final judgement day to know God’s verdict. We are already condemned by His justice (John 3:18). Our sins – our wrong acts and attitudes – have separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2) and brought us under His judgement. But such is God’s love for us, that He gave His only begotten Son, sacrificing the Lord Jesus Christ to provide salvation – the perfect answer to the problem of our sin. On the cross at Calvary, he suffered unimaginably and died for our sins so that we can be forgiven.
This salvation is God’s free gift to everyone who will receive it. The word “whosoever” means anyone and everyone – including you. His love is as wide as the ocean and embraces the whole world. To receive salvation you must in turn embrace Him by faith – putting your trust entirely in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour. If you do so, you will never perish – you will never be lost in hell. Just as there is no uncertainty about our sin and condemnation, there is no need for uncertainty about salvation – God says that whosoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will never perish.
If you trust the Lord Jesus you will not only escape the eternal judgement of God, but you will receive eternal life. That’s not just more of the same – of this life – but new life from God and a living relationship with Him – to know the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom He has sent. (John 17:3) It is to enjoy the fullness of our Creator’s purpose for us, and to receive the assurance of an eternal home in the bliss of heaven.
